RESEARCH & DOCUMENTATION OFFICER

General Description:
Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, the Research and Documentation Officer will serve as an active member of the senior management team working closely with the Training and Capacity Building, and Policy Advocacy Officers. S/he will have primary responsibility of WACSI’s research network, capacity and product development, monitoring and evaluation, and implement WACSI’s research and documentation strategy.

JOB TITLE: ADVOCACY AND COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER PDF Print E-mail

Conservation Through Public Health (CTPH) is a grassroots non-profit, non-governmental organization based in Uganda. CTPH promotes biodiversity conservation by improving wildlife, and community health and livelihoods in and around protected areas in Africa. CTPH's goal is to prevent and control disease transmission while enabling local communities to be stewards of their environment. CTPH's envisions people, wildlife and livestock living in balance, health and harmony within sustainable environments.

CTPH uses an integrated Population, Health and Environment (PHE) approach to sustainable development and is seeking an Advocacy and Communications Officer to lead advocacy initiatives for scalable integrated PHE approaches in East and Central Africa. Their main duties will be to coordinate the Uganda PHE Network and lead advocacy activities for an integrated community managed Population, Health and Environment (ICMPHE) Initiative creating scalable models for sustainable living in the Lake Victoria Basin, titled HoPE (Health of People and the Environment) Lake Victoria Basin (LVB). The HoPE LVB Initiative is being implemented in two countries, Uganda and Kenya, through a partnership between Pathfinder International, Ecological Christian Organization (ECO) and OISIENELA (Friends of Lake Victoria) and technical advisors from Population Reference Bureau (PRB), BALANCED (Building Actors and Leaders for Advancing Community Excellence in Development) and ExpandNet. The project will involve integrated maternal, reproductive health (RH), family planning (FP), and other health services with conservation and sustainable livelihood activities.

The Advocacy and Communications Officer will be responsible for coordinating advocacy efforts targeted at gaining the support and involvement of stakeholders, such as, the Lake Victoria Basin Commission, community leaders, and local, regional, and national officials and stakeholders in Uganda and Kenya.
